I just discovered a volunteer oak in my garden! It’s growing in an old raised plant bed I had which would be the perfect spot for an oak except I have chicken wire underneath to stop the gophers coming from underneath. I am afraid that if I let it be the roots will get strangled by this and it will kill tree. However if I dig it up to transplant it I will kill it as well. Hard to know the right thing to do!?

Bought a 1 gallon pot of Myoporum
I got a coupon for Edan Plains Nursery and got this plant for free. I put it in a hanging basket in the Veggie garden.
It says it can be used as a lawn because it’s a good ground cover but I like how it seems to hang so I thought basket would be best.
I also fertilized the all of the veggie garden today.
Plants I bought today
Got them transplanted today 🙂
My reason for the bottle bush is that it seems to grow in most soils and tolerates our salty water. Also the peacoks seem to leave it alone. From what I read it’s not poisonous. Must just not be a very pleasant plant to eat.
The loropetalum I bought at a local nursery because I was specifically looking for a plant that would grow well in the shade for a vacent spot in my fern house. This will take part or full sun so we’ll see how it goes. I think the leaf coloring is interesting and compliments that lime green of the feather river grass and the asparagus fern that is growing next to it.
The bluebell is just pretty so I had to get that. Not sure if it’s too hot here for it or not but we will see!
