Every so often…
One catches the light
Meet Monica
I had the pleasure a few days ago to photograph Monica Wilson who is running for Antioch city council. I didn’t know her before this shoot but found her to be such a warm and enthusiastic person. I hope you can tell by her smile here what a warm person she seems to be. Antioch needs a person like this as so does every city. I wish you well Monica!
Photo taken with three flashes. One soft box to the right and an umbrella to the left and fill light behind her aimed at the back wall.
Congratulations to Durwynne Hsieh!
I am not sure how I had such a pleasure of photographing such a gifted and talented person as Durwynne but I did. He is a composer, cellist, pianist and selected as teacher of the year by the Contra Costa Community college district. One of his recent compositions just won a place in a nation wide competative music competition for original scores based on a given theme.
What follows are my selects from the portrait and practice session:
Los Vaqueros north entrance opening
Los Vaqueros has been closed for over a year due to an expansion project of the dam. They opened the park up for one day of free admission and festivities. Below is a few snapshots of the day.
Puppy fun
I have all the luck of playing with some of the best furry friends in town. These are four females that my parents have up for sale. They will be 8 weeks old this Saturday. It was so much fun photographing them because all they wanted to do is be one big soft puppy pile. If you click on any of the images below you’ll be directed to their facebook page. The picture above was my favorite from the session. Read more
A hawk life
I don’t know what kind of hawks these are. I’ve seen this pair for a while near my home. I’ve seen them hover in the air the same area for weeks. I have seen them do fancy acrobatics for courtship and I have seen them mate. Yesterday I only saw one and it was obviously upset. I thought I would walk over and take a closer look as it seemed to be upset about something in the brush. It didn’t leave as I came near which was strange. I could only imagine that it’s mate must be stuck or hurt. I went into the hemlock weeds which were high above my head not knowing what I would find. There they were, a couple of newly hatched baby fluffy hawks! Read more
