This photo won first place at a photo competition at the Antioch Lone Tree Golf Course. The Antioch Golf course is a bit of treasure for Antioch out in the hot California sun. So nice next to reservoir, it’s a relief in the evening as the sun starts to set.

Something to crow about…
A couple of weeks ago I found a couple of chickens deposited in my garden. I have no idea who put them there but they are pretty cute so I decided to keep them. I’ve also been working on perfecting my portable studio and decided the chicken coop was the perfect place to test it out – watching my footing of course! I believe the white bird is a Silkie rooster and the speckled bird is a Plymouth Barred Rock hen. We’ve already had a few fried eggs so far 🙂
The light set up was a simple three light setup, two in the front with a diffuser and one pointed at the white background. How I got them in the right spot was a grape stuck to the end of my tripod leg that I waved around as a pointer!
Quiet moment
Peacock in my garden
Well he thinks he owns it and I am only allowed to enter if he happens to feel like letting me in. Here he is perched on the door to my fern house. Love to see them with their tails hanging down like that.
My noisy Scrub Jay
Wow – this guy will NOT shutup! He comes to my garden all the time for sunflower seeds but his main mission in life is to give my cat hell. I know where my cat is at all times by the loud screaming this bird does. He dive bombs my cat and comes within a few feet of him. Years ago my cat killed his mate and he has never got over it. My cat is going a little crazy as well as I am. I have to admire his spunk!
