Little worlds with the iPhone and Photoshop

This little trick isn’t new but it’s new to me so I thought I would blog it. Who knows when you might need to do this stuff. I saw an Earth Day poster once that used this and wondered. Thanks to my friend Curtis Corlew he let me in on the secret. Here are the steps.

  1. Create a pano
  2. Clean up the top, bottom and left and right edges so that there will be no weird seams when it gets warped
  3. Go to image size and make the image equal width and height. Your image will look squished but that’s OK.
Adjust the image size to be the same width and height
  4. Go to Edit > Transform > Rotate 100 degrees. This will turn the image upside down.
  5. Lastly so to filter > distort > polar coordinates and make sure “rectangular to polar” is clicked.
  6. An alternative to these little worlds is to make a cave like the photoshop splash screen or make a “wreath” type shape by skipping step 4 and don’t flip it 180 🙂
