Freak of nature or just a survivor?
I have a stand of cattails growing beside my garden that I have blogged about in the past. They are just getting ready to blow their seeds and yesterday I noticed one really irregular looking cattail. As I came in for a closer look I realized it was one cattail that had split at the base and had somehow managed to join back together at the top. I can’t really figure out how this happened but in the process it now has three seed heads! To me it looks kinda like a cinnamon twist and was so beautiful I just had to try and preserve it and photograph it.
Just WOW! Again, I am in awe of you ability to find, compose, and capture such wonderful images!
That’s bizarre! Very neat looking. Maybe the seeds from it will be a new mutation and always split into multiple sections?
How unique! That’s a neat find. Great lighting on it.
I have never seen a cattail like that before. It does remind me of a cinnamon twist. Wonder if it’s genetics or something physical that caused it to do that
Exceptional!
Very amazing, and your photos are superb! Glad you preserved it in this way.
Wow, wonderful images! Terrific lighting
Neat that you were able to preserve a record of its accomplishment.
This came out great! Love the light on these. I’m curious, how do you get the black background? Photoshop? was it dark behind? Or do you use some kind of lightbox? Other?
It was a black backdrop and then I used the iphone to light it. Since this post I discovered 5 other ones with all different shapes and swirls. Hmm……
Interesting.
