We had an eventful trip overnight to Yosemite yesterday and here are a few photos. One of the things that was interesting was to harvest some wild elderberries. I have been looking for them because it’s been said that my little king bird likes them in their diet. I like elderberry jelly as well so here they were all ripe and ready for the eating! Or at least so I thought! A word of warning… cook the berries first and only have a few and DO NOT eat any of the stems. My mother and I both did and suffered from mild cyanide poisoning 🙁

    I had always thought elderberries were edible! It’s been awhile since I’ve been THAT sick – just wanted to invert my stomach. I guess they are okay if you cook them.

    Those are some very beautiful photos! Please be more careful though eating wild food, I do not have enough friends as it is, hate to lose two at once because of berries 😉

    Wow Eloine! These photos came out great! Thanks for the warning about the elderberries — hopefully none of us make that mistake now. I’m looking into heading to Yosemite October 20th weekend to do some autumn color photography, if you or anyone else is interested.
