Close encounter

Jupiter and the moon on January 21, 2013
Jupiter and the moon on January 21, 2013

I don’t normally follow the planets but I happened to hear that Jupiter would be close tonight. This is as close as I could get with my 400mm lens. I think I actually see a little color on Jupiter but perhaps that is just the camera – I am not sure.

Any one else get it?

A little world

As a little test for myself I thought I would photograph my beta. He doesn’t display often but I found he doesn’t like it when I wear black. Also he has a very  dark head so it’s hard to get enough light on him without it reflecting into the glass. I think I got it pretty good here with the help of my mother holding a flashlight over his head. All this took place while the snail cleaned the glass peacefully below.

Here is a website that I assembled along with design direction from my designer friend John Schall who created the label art. I really like the use of stock photography on this site. The combination of beautiful models and herb photography gives the site a very earthy feel. I utilized CSS gradients in the background of the support pages decreasing the load time of the heavy graphic intensive designs. You can view the site at Lakoet.
