A May day in the garden

Memorial Day weekend always seems like a nice time when it comes to gardening.

My little retreat

In May so many things are ready to harvest and the Farmers markets and fruit stands are at their peak. Above you can see the lily pads and cattails in my claw foot bath tub pond are doing well.

Outside of my little retreat a peahen is acting like a weather vain

The weather vain

What has no hinges, key or lid? Yet inside a golden treasure is hid?

Gifts from the weather vain

We have too many peacocks as it is and they don’t produce as many eggs as chickens but when they do the yolk is big, golden and VERY yummy – a treasure indeed!

Calendula - ready to harvest

Dried petals for tea
French tarragon, basil and garlic chives in the solar food dehydrator

The little treasures above are what keep me at it year after year! šŸ™‚

Wow, a bunch of happy shots! That bench and fountain is a great spot to sit and eat your eggs, check a few emails, enjoy some tea, unless of course the peacock makes too much noise!
